Volunteer recruitment at NTU

Alchemy were with the Supporting Sneinton project on Wednesday at Nottingham Trent University, seeking volunteers to take part in listening and engagement work around Sneinton

Nottingham Trent University's courses in Sociology and Criminology include a "service learning project" which is designed to get students out into the community working with organisations to "address contemporary social challenges at a local level".

This sounds like a great idea- the students get to find out what makes real communities tick, and local non profit groups get help with delivering projects and identifying and meeting needs.

Supporting Sneinton were invited to participate - and hope to attract a group of students to work with their partners in the area: Sneinton Hermitage, Greenway, TRACs, Alchemy and the Sneinton Neighbourhood Forum.

We found the students keen to find out about the project at the recruitment fair- but finding it hard to chose between the 26 or so projects that were pitching for their interest.

If we are successful in attracting a group of students, you'll see them active in the area between February and March next year.
