Green's Mill lit up on Saturday night to host the Nottingham Ukulele Club and The Salvation Army brass band. A big crowd filled the Mill Yard to munch on roast chestnuts while listening to the massed ukuleles before singing Christmas carols with the band. The Mill grounds looked magical on a beautiful clear winter's night. Seeing the Mill like this it is hard to imagine why it is threatened by ever reducing opening hours and cut backs. It is a unique, much loved symbol of Sneinton, not to mention an important part of our built and scientific heritage. The Sneinton Community may well be called on to play a bigger part in the future of the Mill- a good start would be to visit the Friends of Green's Mill website and become a Friend- it only costs a pound! |
