Support available for sustainable community trips

Your community or school group could get funding to take a trip using sustainable transport!

Sustrans Smarter Travel Nottingham want to encourage people to leave the car at home and use more sustainable ways to get about- such as walking, cycling or taking the bus.

So, if your group is planning an outing and you are going to travel to the venue on foot, bike or by public transport then they can help to cover the cost of your day.

They can help with the costs, for example:
  • Public transport tickets - up to £4.20* per person
  • Entry to a venue or contribution to the cost of an activity – up to £5.00* per person
  • Contribution to refreshments – up to £3.00* per person
  • Hire of cycling instructors to accompany the group

*Prices represent the upper limit available; funding will be allocated at officer’s discretion.
To access the funding:

  1. Your community or school group must be based in the central or south locality of Nottingham
  2. The group must travel to the trip venue on foot, bike or public transport.
  3. The funding can only be used to pay for the items listed above
  4. You must return some monitoring data about the trip.
  5. The funding cannot be used to cover other transport costs such as car parking, fuel, minibus, coach or taxi hire.

The funding is provided through the Local Sustainable Transport fund, via the Sustrans Smarter Travel Nottingham team.

This project is being delivered as part of the Nottingham Urban Area’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund programme. For further details visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/lstfprojects
