STOP in your TRACs!

Sneinton Alchemy is helping to look into the future of the TNC (TRACs Neighbourhood Centre) on Hermitage Square, Sneinton.

The building is owned by the City Council and leased to the TRACs committee. A number of community projects and small private businesses currently rent space in the centre, and it's the base for the Community Organisers.

The CO team have brought a lot of new life in to the building, but the committee faces an uphill struggle to keep the building going in the face of mounting repair costs and the time needed to manage and maintain the building.

The 'pre-feasibility' project being undertaken by Alchemy is an initial look at whether the building could be a suitable candidate for 'Asset Transfer', a process that would see the ownership being transferred from the Council to a community group.

The project has involved consultations with public and stakeholders, reports by a surveyor on the condition of the building, and drawing up a business plan.
