Sneinton artist to reimagine wasteland

posted 6 Apr 2013, 03:08 by Unknown user
Artist Matthew Trivett is set to 'recreate' a space that never was on the Boots Island site adjacent to Sneinton. The area was supposed to be developed during the economic boom years with housing and offices, but the scheme never came off and the area has become a wasteland.

The question for Sneinton might be- are we worse off as a result of the development's failure, or have we been protected from the unwanted side effects of 'gentrification'? Are we left with a useless wasteland or an open green space for dog walking, wildlife and even artistic events?

Matthew is looking for volunteers to participate in the project on Saturday 22nd April. For more details please visit the Wasteland Twinning blog.
