The 7th November by-election in the Dales Ward saw the election of Labour Councillor Neghat Kahn. The election was triggered by the resignation of Cllr Ken Williams on health grounds, and saw a 22% turn out of voters.

Cllr Kahn told us: "I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the past six weeks and all the people who came out and voted for me on the 7th November. The real work begins now and I hope to carry on Ken Williams good work."

Cllr Kahn was born and brought up in Sneinton and attended Greenwood Dale school. She now lives in Bakersfield with her husband and young son.

The full results were as follows:
Neghat Nawaz Khan (Labour) - 1644 votes
Irenea Marriott (UKIP) - 364
Neale Mittenshaw-Hodge (Conservative) - 220
Adam Fergus McGregor (Green) - 99
Tad Jones (LibDem) - 78
Cathy Meadows (Anti Cuts) - 72
