Alchemy's Sneinton Vision project has shown that Green's Mill is one of the best-loved spots in Sneinton, but our local Councillors say that whenever the public are asked about which services they want to keep in the face of cuts to the Council budget, heritage and museums come out last. Not many people realise perhaps the degree to which the Mill depends on Council funding to stay open to the public and working as a mill. As a cost-cutting measure the mill recently had its opening hours restricted to one day a week, despite the staff putting an enormous effort into excellent income-generating activities like children's parties. Now it seems that this decision is to be reversed, and the mill will open again from Thursday to Sunday, although now mainly reliant on volunteers to make this happen. The mill's science museum is also having a refit, with new displays and more natural light coming in from the windows into the courtyard.
