On the 20th August, the heads of the Big Lottery Fund and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation visited Sneinton as part of a fact-finding mission hosted by Locality and CoCo to see how community organising works on the ground.

We had good feedback from the visitors:

From Dawn Austwick CEO Big Lottery: It was interesting to see the work that organisers are doing at the grassroots and to have the opportunity to take part in the door knocking, so please do pass on my thanks to your organisers and volunteers. Kelly will follow up with them about the local project ideas, and I think there is a lot of potential for some of these projects to continue and develop with Awards for All funding

From Julia Unwin CEO JRF: Thank you very much for organising such an interesting, and thought provoking visit. It was good to see community organising in action, and amazing to see the progress made having been a little bit involved in the very early stages.

From Emma Stone : Just wanted to say a huge thank you for hosting Julia and me yesterday. It was inspiring and exciting, and a good chance for us to get a better sense of what community organising is, and what it can achieve.

Jess Steele LocalityThe door-knocking/open-air listening, allotment visits, lunch and project discussion were all great... keep up all your excellent work!
