On Thursday 28th March 2013, I had the
pleasure of joining the celebrations of our team Community Organisers (Cohort
3) Steve Smith, Shabana Najib and Dawn Manners graduation ceremony.
CONGRATULATIONS TEAM!
Two project leaders who are working on community projects
in Sneinton such as The Hub and Youth engagement with TRAC’s music studio Nina
Bennett and Simon Marciano also attended the celebrations.
“It
was really nice that our volunteer community organisers came with us, and had the
opportunity to network with some great knowledgeable people.”
Steve
Smith
The venue was at The Living Room, located on St.
Katherine’s Docks right by the waterside with an impressive backdrop of the
Tower of London.
Director of Strategy Jess Steele opened the Cohort 3 Community
organisers Graduation, followed by positive statements of all community
organisers work from Director of training RE: generate Helen Wallis-Downing.
Samantha Murray, who won her silver medal at the London
2012 Olympic Games after her victory in Modern Pentathlon attended the
graduation ceremony and participated in a listening conversation on stage with
Keith Brown (Community organiser from CO3).
Towards the end of the ceremony, individuals shared their
loves and continuation of work in their communities.
Steve and I wrote the following:
We want to continue working in Sneinton to.....
·
Give people a voice
·
Tackle cohesion
·
Tackle poverty
·
Break down barriers in our community
·
Bring about change by harnessing the
potential of diversity.

thoughts on the above.
