On Saturday 23 November, Roma Youth Community Project (RYCP) held a fun filled celebration event at St. Christopher’s Church Hall.

Many residents attended and celebrated the diverse and vibrant Roma culture with traditional Roma food and music on offer.

Whilst celebrating all that is Roma, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were hard at work tackling the very serious issue of fire safety. With ample Roma translators on hand and visual aids such as ‘risky rooms’ and ‘Frances the Firefly’ both adults and children left the event with important fire safety information.

Staff from St. Ann's Advice Centre were also present, offering much needed advice and information on welfare rights. Thank you to Debbie, St. Ann's Advice Manager for continuing to support our work.

Community Organisers Shabana, Steve and VCO Andrew were keen to hear how residents felt about their community. With over 60 people attending the event and staying (even when the heating went kaput!) there was much to celebrate and share!

A huge thank you to Naseem, Chris, Robyn and Mick from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for supporting the event. To all the volunteers who helped out on the day including RYCP translators, Cossack Coffee owners and Elaine, THANK YOU!

It’s been great working with the RYCP team and on behalf of Sneinton Alchemy we wish you every success.
