Andrew Brew... Becoming a Volunteer Community Organiser

I first became involved after speaking to Simone Miller (Trainee Community Organiser)

For the past seven years, after my mum died, I wandered aimlessly, wanting to help people, but unsure of how to do it exactly.

But after getting involved with the amazing people at TRACS Neighbourhood Centre and Community Organisers, I feel inspired and committed to help those less fortunate than me.

I have met some truly amazing people through this process. Instead of feeling angry at the world, I actually feel like I can aid and abet far more people than I could have ever imagined.

Through helping set up a radio station, starting creative writing classes and just generally listing to people, I feel I’m in a position where I can actually help, and make a positive change in this world.

Simone has been great, supportive and inspirational. She has really challenged me to focus and prioritise my thoughts and skills. I am looking forward to emphasising all of the positives through listening and trying to understand.
