Local Alchemy was started as a pilot project in 2004, brainchild of the New Economics Foundation and EMDA.

It is about creating a thriving local economy based on more effective local services, harnessing the potential of the community to understand local economics and foster an enterprising 'can do' attitude.

£80,000 was made available to fund community projects and new-start businesses in the area.

The three year pilot ended in March, but rather than losing the progress of the group so far, the members decided to continue, promoting the group and its aims to residents of Sneinton.

Sneinton Alchemy is now a Social Enterprise, which will allow it to obtain funds to help continue its aims.

The Aims of Sneinton Alchemy

Provide a forum for local residents, community groups and businesses to discuss the future of Sneinton - economically, socially and environmentally.

Give members a connection to other community groups and services available in the area.

Enable members to network with each other and create more community connections.

Take action on issues that matter in the local community.

Promote and use local businesses, and encourage enterprise.

Give opportunities to showcase your business or community group - ideas for the future and current activities.

Take forward the energy, enthusiasm, ideas, skills and vision of the members to create alchemy within Sneinton to ensure it becomes a vibrant, exciting, safe, healthy and flourishing place to live and work.
